Aqua Pro Heat Pump Starter Guide

Aqua Pro Heat Pump Starter Guide

Congratulations on the purchase of your Aqua Pro Heat Pump! We guarantee a summer filled with fun, laughter and of course, warmer water! Have a look at some of the points below to get your heat pump up and running.

Where to Install your Heat Pump

Where to install your heat pump depends on a number of factors including sunlight and Wi-Fi connectivity.

  • It is best to install your heat pump in a sunny position. Why? The heat pump uses the ambient air temperature to transfer energy from the air to the pool water. Therefore, the warmer the outside air, the warmer the water will be.
  • The Aqua Pro Inverter Plus Heat Pump comes standard with Wi-Fi functionality. In order for this to work optimally, The Pool Team recommends installing your heat pump within range of the Wi-Fi signal. Alternatively, a Wi-Fi extender can be used if this is not possible.
  • In ideal conditions, if the floor is evenly paved, it is advised to install your heat pump on a lintel on the floor for easy access. However, if this is not possible due to uneven ground or if the ground is gravel, it is recommended to secure the heat pump to the wall with the use of brackets.

When to Run the Heat Pump

Once your heat pump has been installed, it should be left to run for a full cycle- approximately 6 to 8 hours during the day- before it would have any effect on the pool water temperature. The heat pump is only capable of heating the water approximately 5 to 7 degrees warmer than the outside air temperature (Hence, installing it in the sun). It is for this reason that The Pool Team recommends running the heat pump during the day as the temperature at night is likely too cold to adequately heat up the pool.

It is important to bear in mind that once the heat pump is turned off, the water will naturally start to cool down. It is therefore recommended to run the heat pump for 12 hours during the day before swimming in the pool in order to gain the most benefit out of the heat pump.

Why is my pool not warm yet?

If you have just installed a heat pump, you may be wondering why your pool isn’t warm yet. This could be due to a number of reasons.

  • Firstly, it is recommended to run the heat pump for a full cycle during the day once it has just been installed. It is important to bear in mind that it will take time to heat up a large volume of water, this cannot be achieved in only a couple hours.
  • It is imperative to ensure that your heat pump is the right size for your pool in order for it to adequately heat up the water. Learn more here.
  • As mentioned above, the heat pump is only capable of heating the water approximately 5 to 7 degrees warmer than the outside air temperature. Pro Tip

When installing an Aqua Pro Heat Pump, we recommend using it in conjunction with a solar blanket in order to retain the heat created by the heat pump. Although it may seem unnecessary to take a solar blanket on and off when there is a heat pump installed, it is certainly worth the effort as approximately 75% of the heat created by the heat pump can be retained in the water with the use of a solar blanket.
