While pool time is considered to be a fun time with family and friends, it is important to practice caution, especially when children are involved. The lack of appropriate safety devices can create dangerous conditions for swimmers.

It is recommended to purchase safety devices from a reputable pool store to ensure you are getting the best quality. The Pool Team stocks a variety of safety devices suitable for different ages. These devices all meet the necessary requirements to provide a fun and safe swimming experience for our friends and family.

The Zoggs range of safety devices are one of our top recommendations as they are of premium quality. Zoggs products are manufactured with thick, durable PVC material and bright colours for added visibility in the water. All Zoggs products are NRCS (National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications) approved. The range consists of a number of safety devices from armbands to trainer seats and back floats, all of which are carefully designed to provide the utmost protection for children.

• The Zoggs armbands are designed with dual air chambers to protect the child even if one chamber fails. They are available in two different styles – roll ups and float bands – both of which are easy to use and ensure a safe swimming experience for children.
• The Zoggs trainer seats are an inflatable device that can be used for children up to 6 years old. These inflatables are designed for children to be able to sit comfortably, allowing them the opportunity to float easily and get used to the feel of the water.
• The Zoggs back float can be used to assist children in learning to swim. It is fitted with an adjustable strap that can be secured to the child’s chest, as well as removeable layers to reduce the buoyancy as the child becomes more confident in the water.

Although floatation devices are a great way of keeping children safe, they are not intended for use without adult supervision. It is imperative to never let children in or around the pool unsupervised!

An easy way to keep children out of the pool when not in use is with a pool safety cover. The pool team stocks two types of pool safety covers – safety nets and solid safety covers.

• Safety nets are made from nylon and have a floater attached in order to keep them from sinking.
• Solid safety covers are manufactured from strong, durable PVC material. They are supported with aluminium poles across the pool to avoid the cover sinking and filling with water. Make sure your solid safety cover complies with SABS (South African Bureau of Standards).

Both safety nets and solid safety covers need to be professionally installed to ensure the correct measures are taken to keep the family safe.
